SOL 26 March 2017

I’m at a loss. I fumble in a sea of words with no purpose, no destination, no theme, heck even no topic to pull them all together.

The clock keeps ticking and yet nothing. All day various ideas have popped into my head to write about but nothing gets past a few lines before I’m dead in the water, floundering.

My weekend happened. I was delusional about my productiveness as usual. Papers to be graded got to go on vacation from my work desk to my house. They’ll be going back to said work desk without getting touched. It gets stuffy in that classroom that even piles of work should be allowed a reprieve. Even convicts get so much time outside during incarceration. A change of scenery if you will.

The internet sucked up some of my time as it is want to do. Found a meme that described my day well. Paraphrased: I’m going to be as useless as the G in lasagna. And I was. I took up space like that G but little else.

  1. Dag, I wish you shared that meme; it sounds hilarious. Great analogy, “I’m going to be as useless as the G in lasagna.” in general but esp applied to writer’s block or procrastination. Excellent slice on the topic!

  2. … I don’t get people like us. And when I mean people, I mean teachers.

    Your entry was brilliant.

Favoritest paragraph ever, I am going to copy it (cite you) and post it in my workroom, if you don’t mind:

“My weekend happened. I was delusional about my productiveness as usual. Papers to be graded got to go on vacation from my work desk to my house. For someone who doesn’t have anything to write about (and I know you don’t, this happens to me.. and then look at that non-title of yours!), you’re able to pump out something that’s original, smacks of cute dull scarcasm that mimics the “happened” of your weekend. The writing is tight and bright — FUNNY — with a connection many would not have thought of (including me, and I do this ALL the time. My papers take 3-week hiatus’. I’m going to start telling my kids they’re MIA. Spies took them!)

Your captured you in the moment, even if you think it was .. whatever.. dull? Look at me going in circles, I don’t even know what I”m saying anymore!

You’re brilliant. I think the point here is it’s a shame we brilliant people, we brilliant WRITERS don’t have the time or energy to get this funny, real, brilliant thinking out via writing — because I’m assuming that’s an issue for you, too, seeing you have stacks of convicts sitting on the floor where you left them when you came home on Friday!

Sorry for this diatribe.. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this post — I cheer you on! 🙂

  3. @Merlinette78, I am also one who thinks that when I get home I have another 8-hour day ahead of me. I bring home a bag stuffed with papers, books, whatever seems to fit, and it all seems to fit, and then I bring it back the same way without even giving it a sideways glance. I’ve tried not bringing any school work home at all, but I haven’t been able to stick with it. Maybe it deserves another try?
